National Anti-Fraud in Gambling Commission (CONFAD) has created a plan to prevent the manipulation of bets in Spain. “The increasing relevance and constant evolution of the manipulation of sports competitions and fraud in betting show the need to have an effective approach in the fight against this practice,” said the CONFAD.
The regulatory body brings together representatives of the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling, Higher Sports Council, Civil Guard, National Police, Royal Spanish Football Federation, LaLiga, Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Association of Spanish Footballers, GVC Holdings, Sportium, BET365 and Codere.
National Plan to prevent the manipulation of bets
CONFAD has released the National Plan for the 2020-2021 financial year. The current document covers four main areas of work: analysis and diagnosis; outreach and awareness; control and monitoring, and study of current regulations and operations. 21 measures that hope to stop illegal actions within the gambling sector in Spain.
Sports bets represent 50% of profits
The sports betting sector is consolidated in Spain. Just a few weeks ago, the DGOJ published the quarterly report in which the exponential growth of bets in Spanish territory was clear, which represents around 50% of the profits.
The net gaming margin in the first three months of 2020 has been 217.97 million euros. 110 million euros, 50.4%, are obtained from sports betting. Sports bets, where it has increased by 23.34% compared to the previous quarter and 8.65% compared to the same period of 2019. This increase is due to conventional counterpart sports bets that have risen 45.42%, and 10.77% live compared to the last quarter of 2019.
